まだYouTubeでは誰もコラボなどやっていなかった。
９年前だ。
「弾き語り」というのは寂しすぎる。
だから誰かと一緒にやりたかった。
それで一人でやってる人を探した。
プロではなく、あまりに初心者でもなく、
それがBillさんだった。
勝手に彼のビデオをダウンロードして、それに合わせて自分の演奏を重ねた。
あんまりうまく行ったとは思えなかった。
でもその動画を非公開でYouTubeにアップしてBIllさんに知らせた。
全然知らない人だし、どう思われるかわからなかったから。
でも彼からの返信は思いもよらなかった。
すごく喜んでくれて、すぐに別の曲をやろうと言ってきた。
それからたくさんの曲を一緒にやってきた。
「一緒に」と言えるのかということだけれど、
どういう歌をやるか、キーは？誰が歌う？どこを歌う？
どんな風に歌う？とかを話しながらやってきたので
離れていても一緒に歌った感がある。
だから、いつも一緒にいたような気がする。
でも、Billさんが書いてくれるメールにすぐに返事ができない。
英語を読み返して、自分はどう書こうかを考えないといけないから。
日本語だったらすぐにでも返事ができるのに、英語だとなんで時間がかかるんだろう。
間違えても向こうはわかってくれるはず。
それがわかっていてても何度も書き直してしまう。
結局送らなかったり。
それでもBillさんは書いてくれる。
最後のメールは７月３１日だ。
Hello Kogawa, sorry it’s been so long since I emailed. I did get your last email, and sorry for not responding.
I had to have another heart surgery, as the new aortic valve that they put in failed. I have been very weak with no energy. Tomorrow (Wednesday) they are giving me a feeding tube in my stomach because I am very low body nutrients. I am hoping this will help me build up my strength again.
I have been really enjoying listening to your songs you have uploaded. Great music tracks and your voice sounds wonderful.
I see the weather has been very hot for you in Japan this year. It has been here hot as well.
Are you still riding your bike everyday?

Does the music studio you use to record, do they charge very much money? Sure looks like a nice studio.
Well, you take care of yourself. I sure miss making music with you. Maybe in a couple months I will be a little better and we can try something.
